Konza Technopolis, Kenya’s leading smart city project, has announced that it is developing a 420,000 square meter education hub.
This hub offers universities, research centers, technical institutes, and other educational institutions a chance to collaborate in a dynamic environment, the tech hub noted in its official X (formely Twitter) account.
“Establish a World-Class Education Hub at Konza! With 420,000 m² dedicated to education and research, there’s ample opportunity for setting up university campuses, R&D centres, technical and vocational institutes, and much more. Be part of a knowledge-based economy where industry, academia, and government collaborate for innovation. Contact invest@konza.go.ke to contribute to shaping future talent,” Konza noted.
The Konza education hub aims to create a knowledge-based economy through collaboration between industry, academia, and government.
Located in “Africa’s Silicon Savannah,” the hub offers educational institutions several advantages, including proximity to leading technology companies for student and researcher opportunities, cutting-edge infrastructure for a future-proof learning environment, and a collaborative ecosystem for knowledge exchange and joint ventures.
Konza Technopolis invited universities, research institutions, and educational leaders to join this initiative. The hub noted that it offers flexibility for tailoring facilities and programs.
“Together, a dynamic education hub can be built within Konza Technopolis to empower future generations and drive Kenya’s knowledge-based economy.”
It is worth noting that already, several prestigious institutions have established campuses within the development.
Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya AIST) is leading the way, expecting to welcome its first cohort of students in 2025. The institute’s state-of-the-art campus and hostels are nearing completion, with an initial capacity of 348 students over the first five years.
Joining Kenya AIST is the Open University of Kenya, chartered by President William Ruto in August 2023. The Open University offers flexible and accessible learning opportunities to students across Kenya.
In addition, Riara University is also making a significant move to Konza Technopolis, relocating its headquarters and main campus. Construction is underway, with groundbreaking ceremonies already completed.
