WhatsApp, a leading global messaging platform has announced the launch of voice message transcripts.
This new feature allows users to easily convert voice messages into text, making it easier to stay connected and informed, even in busy or noisy environments.
Voice message transcripts are generated directly on the user’s device, ensuring privacy and security. No one, including WhatsApp, can access the content of voice messages or their transcripts.
“For those moments we’re excited to introduce voice message transcripts. Voice messages can be transcribed into text to help you keep up with conversations no matter what you’re doing. Transcripts are generated on your device so that no one else, not even WhatsApp, can hear or read your personal messages,” WhatsApp noted in its official blog post.
To enable voice message transcripts, open WhatsApp Settings, tap Chats, turn Voice Message Transcripts on or off, and select your preferred transcript language.
Once enabled, users can long-press on a voice message and tap “Transcribe” to view the text version.
Key benefits of this feature include accessibility for users with hearing impairments or those in noisy environments, efficiency in reviewing and responding to voice messages, especially longer ones, and privacy, as end-to-end encryption ensures that only the sender and recipient can access voice messages and their transcripts.
