AerialGIS, a Kenyan real estate startup founded by geospatial developer Nancy Wachiuri, is transforming property investment in Kenya through cutting-edge technology.

With its innovative web application, the startup integrates subdivision maps, interactive mapping, and virtual reality (VR) to provide potential buyers with an immersive, hassle-free property exploration experience.

Empowering Property Investment Through Technology

AerialGIS introduces the Plotviewer, a revolutionary platform enabling users to view detailed property information—location, features, nearby amenities, and prices—via interactive maps, without needing to visit in person.

Using drones and VR cameras, the platform offers high-quality aerial and ground visuals, effectively addressing the challenges of traditional land buying and selling in Kenya.

“Buying land in Kenya has often been a complex and unreliable process,” explains Nancy Wachiuri. “With AerialGIS, we’ve created a solution that allows people to remotely view and assess properties with confidence. Our goal is to make property investment smarter, more transparent, and accessible for everyone.”

Award-Winning Innovation

AerialGIS recently achieved significant recognition as one of seven women-led startups to win the 2024 Standard Chartered Women in Tech Incubator Program COHORT 7.

Sharing the stage with other innovative startups, including Moma Renewable Energy and Hayah Cradle to Bloom, AerialGIS collectively secured Ksh 8.75 million in prize funding.

Under the theme “Empowering Women for a Sustainable Future,” the program emphasized technological innovation, environmental sustainability, and social impact.

“Being part of the Women in Tech program was an invaluable experience,” said Ms Wachiuri. “It gave me access to mentorship, industry insights, and a network of like-minded entrepreneurs who are driving change.”

Since its launch, the program has drawn over 2,250 applications and supported 77 women-led tech startups.

It provides mentorship, business advisory services, coaching, networking opportunities, seed capital access, and investor forums, helping entrepreneurs elevate their businesses to global standards.

Next-Generation Technology for Real Estate

The tech venture employs cutting-edge tools, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for mapping and data analysis, Google Maps integration, and VR for immersive property experiences.

Looking ahead, the company plans to incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) for predictive analytics, personalized property recommendations, and user-generated content to enhance the platform’s functionality.

As part of its expansion, AerialGIS is targeting individual property investors and the Kenyan diaspora, offering them a seamless and tech-enabled approach to land investment.

A Vision for Sustainability and Women Empowerment

Aligned with global calls for sustainable solutions, AerialGIS champions ESG-driven entrepreneurship in Africa.

“Kenya is ready for innovations that prioritize people and the planet,” stated Ms Wachiuri. “As women entrepreneurs, we have a unique opportunity to lead this charge and demonstrate that sustainable business models can deliver both impact and profitability.”

Founded in 2024 by Nancy Wachiuri, AerialGIS is a Nairobi-based startup dedicated to simplifying and enhancing property transactions in Kenya.

Leveraging advanced mapping, visualization, and VR technology, the company addresses long-standing challenges in the real estate sector with user-friendly, data-driven solutions.
