PAIX Data Centres, a prominent provider of data centre solutions in Africa, has announced the construction of a cutting-edge data centre in Dakar, Senegal.
This project represents a significant strategic milestone as PAIX continues to grow its network in West Africa, addressing the increasing demand for premium digital infrastructure.
PAIX Data Centres currently operates in Accra, Ghana; Nairobi, Kenya; and Djibouti.
Regional and Customer Benefits
Dakar is already connected to four submarine cables—ACE, MainOne, SAT3, and SHARE—with additional cables, including 2Africa, under installation.
These connections establish the data centre as a pivotal access point for businesses targeting the region’s emerging markets.
The PAIX Dakar facility will provide essential digital infrastructure to drive innovation and economic growth in West Africa.
Companies will benefit from reliable connectivity and superior colocation services, enhancing their competitiveness and resilience.
State-of-the-Art Infrastructure
To develop the facility, PAIX Data Centres acquired land to construct purpose-built buildings for housing data centre equipment.
This modern facility will offer approximately 918 m² of operational space with a critical power capacity of up to 1.2 megawatts.
The first phase is slated for completion in 2026, marking a major advancement in digital services for the region.
The new PAIX Dakar data centre will feature robust, secure infrastructure designed for optimal performance and flexibility. Key specifications include:
- ‘1.2 MW of IT load’ to guarantee consistent and stable power supply.
- ‘900 square meters of colocation space’ with scalable hosting options.
- ‘330 bays’ to securely house diverse IT equipment in a controlled environment.
Environmental Commitments
PAIX Data Centres noted it is deeply committed to environmental sustainability, employing innovative designs to ensure high performance.
Strategies focus on optimizing local resources, operating efficiently in warmer climates, and conserving cooling water in water-scarce regions.
The company said it is dedicated to sourcing ‘100% renewable energy’ for its data centres by 2030.
Economic and Social Impact
PAIX Data Centres, alongside its investor Africa50—an initiative established by 32 African governments, including Senegal—is committed to delivering world-class data centre solutions.
This commitment aims to support customer needs while contributing to Senegal’s and West Africa’s economic growth and prosperity.
Job Creation
The firm states that the construction of the Dakar facility will create significant employment opportunities in Senegal.
Approximately 200 workers will participate in the construction phase, and 20 full-time employees will manage operations upon completion.
Additionally, the data centre will generate business for architects, engineers, contractors, and maintenance providers.

As a member of the European Union’s Global Gateway Business Advisory Group, PAIX Data Centres collaborates with the EU to promote secure and resilient digital infrastructure across Africa.
