Safaricom has presented a new Suzuki Alto to the third and last grand prize recipient of the recently concluded ‘Wai Ndai’ Challenge, during the Safaricom Hook Circle Bootcamp held at Kenyatta University.
Joseph Kinyua, a 29-year-old resident of Wangige, Kiambu County, was declared the final winner of the 3-month online gaming challenge.
This competition involved participants engaging in puzzle, arcade, and action games, with daily cash prizes and a monthly grand prize of a brand-new Suzuki Alto.
Following the announcement, Kinyua expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the prize, stating, “I am extremely happy to have emerged as one of the grand prize winners of the Wai Ndai Challenge. Thanks to Safaricom, I now have a car that I can drive around as I run my daily activities.”
The vehicle handover occurred on the final day of the Safaricom Hook Circle bootcamp at Kenyatta University, where over 2,500 participants took part in masterclasses conducted by various expert partners. The camp’s focus was on empowering young people through three key areas: technology, career, and culture.
“Safaricom Hook Circle is dedicated to connecting young people across Kenya with opportunities that empower them to thrive in their chosen fields. We have had a great reception at Kenyatta University, and going forward, we are excited to continue collaborating with our partners to create even greater impact,” stated Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business Officer, Safaricom PLC.
The two-day bootcamp featured masterclasses from partners such as Baze Radio, Boomplay, and Outlook, demonstrating how to monetize content or enter passion-driven fields like gaming, art, or fashion, as part of the Culture Hook.
Within the Technology Hook, the bootcamp explored skills for a tech-driven future, with presentations from partners including Huawei, Transsion (Tecno & Infinix), Google – Gemini, and Power Learn Project.
The Career Hook, aimed at empowering youth to pursue their ventures or achieve their career goals, included industry insights from partners such as Brighter Monday, Wowzi, Trace Academia, Avunja, and Twiva.
Recognizing the significance of mental 1 health and financial literacy, the bootcamp also incorporated sessions conducted by Chiromo Hospital, Absa through its Ready to Work Program, and Old Mutual.
