LG Electronics (LG) has named Donghun Lee as the new President for its East Africa (EA) operations, effective immediately.

He succeeds Dongwon Lee, who held the position since January 2023.

Donghun Lee brings over 20 years of experience with LG, most recently serving as the Overseas Kitchen Division Leader at LG Headquarters in South Korea.

In this role, he spearheaded the company’s kitchen appliance strategy across international markets. His expertise includes strategic planning, market and product development, and cross-cultural communication.

His career at LG includes leadership roles such as Branch President in Guatemala, Home Appliances Product Manager in Mexico, and Home Appliances Product Leader in Chile.

“I am truly excited to take on this new responsibility and look forward to leading the growth of LG Electronics in East Africa,” said Lee. “This is a dynamic market with immense potential, and I am committed to strengthening our presence through product innovation, customer-focused strategies, and a continued commitment to sustainability. My goal is to not only meet but exceed customer expectations, ensuring that LG remains a brand of choice for consumers across the region.”

Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Lee will focus on driving sales and profitability by introducing innovative products and optimizing pricing. He will also work to enhance the customer experience through high-quality products and excellent service.

Mr Lee’s responsibilities cover a wide range of East African markets: Kenya, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Somalia, Uganda, Zambia, South Sudan, Rwanda, Seychelles, Djibouti, Mayotte, Malawi, Burundi, Comoros, and Eritrea.

These markets represent key growth opportunities for LG, driven by an expanding middle class.

A key focus for Mr Lee will be enhancing LG’s sustainability initiatives, including eco-friendly technologies, energy-efficient products, and sustainable business practices.

He will also oversee corporate social responsibility programs focused on education, health, and environmental conservation.

Mr Lee’s appointment comes as LG aims to expand its presence in Africa, capitalizing on the region’s technological advancements and growing demand for electronics and home appliances.

His vision includes strengthening brand loyalty by providing products that meet evolving consumer needs, particularly in energy-efficient appliances, smart home technologies, and consumer electronics.
